The Regional Council of North Karelia has made a decision to grant two new types of production support. The new subsidies make the shooting of films and series for television and streaming services even more profitable in North Karelia.
The East Finland Film Commission EFFC serves both Finnish and foreign audiovisual production companies. We offer local assistance in securing funding as well as preparations of different production stages from pre-production to shooting.
New pilot production support for TV series
The Regional Council supports the production of pilot episodes of series for television and streaming services in North Karelia. The production support may be granted for pilot episodes of series which are considered to contribute to regional development and whose final serial production will take place in North Karelia. The maximum amount of pilot production support is EUR 25,000.
Boosting marketing with new support for trailers
Support for marketing trailers can boost the marketing of a film or a series for television or streaming services. The production support may be granted for trailers which are considered to contribute to regional development and whose final serial production will take place in North Karelia. The maximum amount of marketing trailer support is EUR 5,000.
The 25% production support continues
In addition, the existing support model will continue for productions taking place in the North Karelia region either partially or as a whole. Productions taking place in the region may include, for example, filming days in North Karelia and/or the use of local labour and services. The support covers 25% of the costs incurred in the region
Acceptable uses for production support include feature-length films, documentary, animated or short films, fictional or reality series for television or streaming services or their episodes, music videos and, where applicable, game productions and other interactive products. The suitability of a production under the scope of support is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
