As a part of FiBAN’s regional activities FiBAN is co-organizing an online pitching event with three cities from Eastern Finland: Joensuu, Kuopio, and Mikkeli. FiBAN Pitch Eastern Finland event will bring nine startup companies to pitch in front of angel investors. The event is organized to showcase the smartest startups in the area and to boost the development and growth of the region.
FiBAN’s regional activities play a key role in advancing angel investing across the country. Currently, FiBAN has 12 regional angel investors scattered all around Finland who actively promote angel investing activities in various ways, such as connecting angel investors in the region.
“FiBAN has been active in the Kuopio region already since 2014 and from the beginning of Tahko Ski Lift Pitch in 2017, FiBAN has been actively involved in participating in the event. In previous years we were able to have, you could say finally, a foundation here when Nostetta Ventures started their North Savo Startup Fund to support the startups in the region.”, tells Jari Osmala, FiBAN Regional Angel in Kuopio.
Keijo Mutanen served as a regional angel in Joensuu for several years and now Stephanie Sinclair-Lappi, Business Joensuu Business Coach, has that role. As a member of FiBAN, Business Joensuu has organized many successful investor events.
“A large part of day-to-day operations at Business Joensuu is applying for financing with companies in the region. In Joensuu, angel investments have been an important part of local investments for over ten years. Our own funding instruments Start Up Fund and North Karelia Growth Fund benefit greatly from the business angel network”, says Stephanie Sinclair- Lappi, Business Joensuu Business Coach and FiBAN Regional Business Angel.
“This is the first opportunity in the Mikkeli region for the startups to reach for a group of angels as well for angel investors to become active. Adding to this, we have a new South Savo Growth Fund starting which is seeking great investment opportunities in the area. There is a lot of expectations for all of this!”, tells Marjo Niittuaho-Nastolin, FiBAN Regional Angel in Mikkeli.
All the startups invited to pitch will have 3 minutes to present their pitch for the investors that will be followed by further questions from a dedicated panel that consists of Stephanie Sinclair-Lappi, Oskari Lehtonen, and Heidi Ahonen. After the pitching investors and startups may continue their conversations. The event is aimed for everyone interested in angel investing.
“FiBAN Pitch Eastern Finland is a great initiative of three neighboring regions connecting future oriented startups, investors and ecosystem players. Together we aim to strengthen the regional collaboration even further and boost economic growth in the regions.”, says Johanna Ahtiainen, Training and Development manager at FiBAN.
The event will be organized online.
